Welcome!
RoBoat Robotics is a team of multidisciplinary, STEM, college students which founded in 2021 at South Dakota School of Mines. Our members learned how to perform various tasks and skills, like coding, project management, and 3D modeling. We use these skills to prepare for the RoboBoat Competition held in Florida each year. The competition challenges us to create a small autonomous boat, which navigates through a course performing various tasks. These tasks include obstacle detection and avoidance, navigation, and targeting.

Build Week Update
1/7/2025
As the new year begins, we start it off strong with a build week. Before school starts, we decided to meet together to work on the bot for a whole week. The subteams have worked hard developing their projects. The Mechanical team works hard at developing better mounts for the thrusters, and the waterproof battery cases. The Electrical team has further developed the setup alongside this diagram. The Coding team has made significant process for the cameras color and depths perception. Overall, we are all working hard to get to competition this year.

A Mines Homecoming and planned updates
10/10/2024
Due to a slow week, we have some older news to reveal for the newer and older supports of our club. The First is the major updates we are planning on making for our robot this year. We changed the design in order to power our boat using two lightweight lithium batteries instead of the car battery used in earlier years. This will result is more power, a more stabilized boat, and less weight for our boat. Another major update is the Bullet antenna booster. This will allow our antennas to transmit signals without as much interference from the water. The last major update development comes from the coding team which are working hard on the autonomy of our boat. Other news is that we participated with the SD Mines Paint the town where we painted the windows of local businesses for our homecoming with the theme of Greek mythology.
